ARCH. FRANCO SCAGLIA - BIOGRAPHY
No doubt, architect by chance.
My first love is the radio, the free one of the end of the Seventies: a microphone, good music and a lot of free time.
Then the local TV: only sport, but with real passion.
Finally, the editorial office of a daily paper, to write about football (series A), motorcycling and little more.
I thought I had found my dimension and the studies: commuter between Brescia and Venice, nothing more than duty towards my parents who wanted at least a doctor in the family.
Then the turning-point, difficult and endured: the arguing with the editor and a friend asking me to help restructure his home (obviously for free). In fact, I didn't enjoy it much, but at least I understood that to survive, I would have had to start all over again.
And I started by dusting off that diploma which is now shown off in the bathroom in my office (not to despise the title, but as witness of the importance of the place).
Again by chance, and always upon request of a friend, I then started dealing with what were once called gyms and now, with some prosopopeia, Wellness Clubs.
I believe it was 1983 or around then.
I had fun and so I found myself, many years later, to work almost exclusively in the fitness, wellbeing and entertaining sector.
I believe I now am around fifty years old (I stopped counting in 2000 as someone had envisioned the end of the world), but I have not stopped having fun in designing Clubs, SPAs and premises.
This is why I still want to grow and do well: I have seen a world (that of fitness) arise and transform year after year and, with slight presumption, I believe that I have also contributed in the developing of the kind. I certainly have not invented anything, but I have simply tried to apply the rules of good designing and a bit of style to a sector that for many years lived of design improvisation.
For now the results are on my side, in the future we will see.
